Art Pepper - ... the way it what (33 rpm, 180 g)

There are albums that are forgotten. There are recordings that never appear. And sometimes there is the particular case that a musician of some old recordings recalls and insists they publish. For 16 years camped the tapes of this recording from 1956 in the archives until 1972 finally released on vinyl, because Art Pepper did not want that this be forgotten.

However, as the Jam Session with Warne Marsh (tenor saxophone), Ronnie Ball (piano), Ben Tucker (bass) and Gary Frommer (drums) was too short for an album with only four pieces, it was decided at Contemporary Records still some hits shall be included by Art Pepper in alternative versions. So we are seeing more Red Garland and Wynton Kelly on the piano.

Despite the considerable Altes the Aufnahem sounds not a bit busy or out of date, but as if to real professionals who put together by the sound of the late 50s to revive over again.

This is the first MFSL recording with Rob Loverde as Tonigenieur. An absolutely successful debut! The LP was as always cut at MFSL in Half-speed mastering.

This LP is limited worldwide to a number of 2,000 and provided with consecutive serial number!
