Herbie Mann - At the Village Gate (33 rpm, 180 g)

The Jazz Club "Village Gate" in New York witnessed on 17 November 1961 memorable concert. Flutist Herbie Mann had recently returned from a South American tour and was even in the cold New York Samba in blood, yet Arabic melodies in my head. This unique combination brings previously unheard innovations in actually well-known titles and exudes a grandiose vitality. Few jazz recordings invite to dance.

Recorded the concert of the later legend Tom Dowd and his feeling for the perfect playback can be recognized how wonderful you can hear individual instruments from the live session out. As is again someone say Live could not achieve the same perfection as in the studio one.

Re-Mastering by Steve Hoffman. Limited Edition LP 180g with consecutive serial number.

Performed by Herbie Mann (flute), Hagood Hardy (vibraphone), Ahmad Abdul-Malik (bass), Ben Tucker (bass solo on "Comin 'Home Baby"), Ray Mantilla & Chief Bey (conga and percussion), Rudy Collins ( Drums)
