Mike Garson - The Bowie Variations
1972 was heard Mike Garson on almost all David Bowie recordings and a variety of tours as a pianist until 2006. Bowie himself described Garson as the best rock musicians in the world, because he do not play rock. This is also for this album a proper statement because it is piano solo variations of David Bowie songs that result from improvisations. Many of the titles are visible only for fans as Bowie's pieces.
The piece Nine other hand, is an original composition Mike Garsons in which he reflects on his work with David Bowie and the classic Space Oddity appears in two different improvisations. Musically, the album is based on jazz, but the occasional overdubs in which the great Yamaha Disklavier grand piano several times to hear, but remember clearly the world of pop.
The album was followed by "Prof." Keith O. Johnson recorded in California 23 November 2010. Sonically creates a perfect mix of direct piano sound and the echo of the Oxnard Performing Arts Center. The English music journalist Andrew Everard referred to in the magazine What HiFi this recording even be the best piano recording that he has heard in his long career. Recorded in 24-bit technology and published as HDCD.
