"Clapton is God" stood as a graffiti read on London house walls after John Mayall had published with Eric Clapton on guitar album Blues Breakers. The album from 1966 is now known as the most important British blues album of the 60s and was of a year of concerts. It succeeded to capture the energy of the live events in the studio and the album presents an enormous pace.

It is the special merit of producer Mike Vernon, that this Studio Sessions live performances such like, which is rather unusual for that time productions and was not easy to enforce when DECCA in London. The band played alongside singer John Mayall on organ and piano and and Eric Clapton on lead guitar nor John McVie on bass and Hughie Flint on drums. A combination of future stars.

On this album also Clapons first attempt as lead singer with can be heard "Ramblin 'on my mind".

The Audio Fidelity Re-mastering from 2009 used the original mono tapes of Decca and is additionally equipped with HDCD coded. The CDs have a consecutive serial number on the outer packaging. Whoever the "Clapton is God" will look closely again discover.
